PIÑATAS POCKET SQUARE
Measures 13" x 13"
Coming from the Far East and passing through Europe, the "piñatas" arrived in Mexico with the Spanish Conquistadors. Its original form is a star with 7 spikes, which represent the 7 cardinal sins in the Catholic religion; it is filled with fruits or candies that symbolize happiness and good actions. When breaking the piñata, blindfolded and to the rhythm of popular songs, a reference is made to the victory of good over evil. Made of cardboard or clay, durning the "posadas" or in the middle of the summer star-snaped or in any imaginable shape, "piñatas" will continue to be, for a long time, a happy reference to the Mexican traditions.
