THE STONE OF THE SUN SKINNY TIE
The legend tells that in the beginning the gods created the sun, Tonatiuh, and placed him next to the lesser stars, initiating the universal order. Tonatiuh, penetrated the depths of Mictlán, the place of the dead, where he briefly illuminated the destiny of their souls. Xolotl, Quezatcoatl's twin, carried him on his back and helped him find his way back to heaven. The ancient Mexicas depicted this myth on the famous stone devoted to the sun. It is here where we observe Tonatiuh's face with his tongue sticking out, in reference to his thirst for blood from the human sacrifice to continue in order for him to illuminate the earth.
